President’s Message

Today we stand on the precipice of a new frontier in healthcare.  The existing paradigm of conventional medicine has failed to meet our need to maintain our health and recognize we are more than a clump of interacting chemicals.  In the nature of taking care of ourselves, we have a responsibility beyond ingesting pills and considering invasive surgical procedures.  It’s time we remember our rich heritage of health traditions that focus on our holistic nature in order to address the various aspects of our being.

We can change our healthcare model and embrace a new medical paradigm that insures our personal responsibility and empowers us at each level of our intrinsic nature.  It’s time to provide the knowledge and tools to help each of us optimize our health so that we truly realize our birthright of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  It is upon these beliefs that this institution is created.

A human being is comprised of four levels of consciousness/existence in the Complementary and Alternative Medicine (C.A.M.) holistic model. Each level originates from the same source.  This original substance becomes structured into an interactive system based on the amount of condensation the originating life force substance, creating different levels of vibrational frequencies.  Like a molecule of H2O, it can exist as either a vapor-like gas, water or ice, depending on the degree of vibrational frequency of the molecules.  Yet, regardless of the form H2O becomes condensed in, its essence is always the same: two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. However, the manner in which you would interact with each level of H2O dictates the tools you would need to effectively work with it.

Our C.A.M. model recognizes that each aspect of a human being originates from the same one substance that we can call Life, Pure Consciousness, or Pure Existence. This invisible substance could be considered the unmanifest field from which all manifestation emerges. Quantum physics calls this the implicate order and all which emerges from it the explicate order.  As human beings, this manifest, explicate existence is experienced at the levels of spirit, mind, emotions and the body as the unconscious mind. Healing and health can best be achieved and maintained by bringing health and balance to all four levels of our integrated nature. It is not possible to effect change at one level without influencing all levels. Recognizing and integrating all four levels which comprise a human being is the best way to ensure optimum functioning of a person and is the only way that comprehensive healing can occur. The key to enjoying the benefits of life-long healing (wholeness) is recognizing the four frontiers of our nature in which we each live and developing a healthy and balanced approach to integrate each of them in a harmonious system.

At the Florida Institute for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, we work with students to help themselves in order to help others reach goals for emotional and physical healing. Our practice and research have taken over 35 years of experience which has culminated into this opportunity to train you for a career in Complementary and Alternative Medicine. We stand on the shoulders of all the valiant researchers who came before us to step outside the conventional means of their times (Freud, Reich, Erickson, Bandler, Satir, Wolinski, Lowen, Hellinger, Willocott, Jung, Grof and many more) who said there must be another way and had the willingness, courage and determination to find it despite dissention from the status quo.
